Shooting with Sigma 50-500mm f/4-6.3 EX HSM for Sony
This lens is a beast......but a very tamed beast. The Sigma 50-500mm gives a range not matched by ANY other telephoto zoom that I've seen for the Sony Alpha system, it’s reasonably sharp throughout its range. I wish it weighed a bit less but with a sturdy tripod or monopod you could get some really good shots. You can hand hold it just as long as you have plenty of light and maintain stability. Construction, fit and finish of this lens are just excellent.At the end of the day, it just does the job you want it to do. And it has some very nice touches: the ‘handle tripod mount’ is something I wish other manufacturers would copy on their telephoto lenses,The markings on the barrel are easy to see,Focus is fast and quiet combined with Sony's image stabilization that is built into the camera makes this lens a top pick for photographers of all types.

Beach goer
Spent some time this weekend in Virginia Beach before heading off to California for a well earned vacation. This shot is going to be included into the portfolio where I'm gonna compare East coast Beaches vs West Coast Beaches. One observation I made while here and a discovery is that their was actually snow on the beach and people were still showing up albeit wearing winter clothing but their is something about the beach that people cannot stay away from.

Silhouette
Took a little drive to the Shenandoah National Park to scope out the Starlight Trail after seeing the cast of Top Gear take a drive in the area. A short 3 Hour drive to get to the park and about 3 Hours to get from the North side to the south side where I found the small town of Farmville. Pretty cool drive.

Went on a awesome photo shooting weekend with a new lens from Lensrentals.com. The Sigma 50-500mm lens which started in Harrisburgs Wildwood Lake followed by a quick drive to Hawk Mountain which is located north of Hamburg, Pennsylvania, It has some of the most beautiful scenery I've ever seen. Then a nice drive down to New Castle Delaware,I initially wanted to go to Lewes...But The weather and time changed that. After all that a quick stop at Hershey's North American Wildlife Park. These images are just a small sample of things to come.

Coakley's Pub...refreshing drink
After walking around New Cumberland on a Solo photowalk I rewarded myself with a pint of Guinness at the Coakley's pub...This place has some of the best nachos and wings I've ever had and the atmosphere is very laid back... Definetly adding it to my places to be on a nice evening.

Hershey Gardens Butterfly House
Got this very nice capture of a Monarch butterfly in the butterfly house in Hershey Gardens. The light was right and the temperature was perfect. These little guys were fluttering all over the place... Fun fact a butterflies top speed is 12mph.

Flower Pic of the Week.

Washington DC Zoo
Scored this shot while the Cheetah was calmly pacing about in its pen. This is the closest I will get to a cheetah unless someone can score me a ticket to Africa so I can see them running in the wild.
Hmm..after much reading and combing thru comments and text logs...i almost blew my mind. The tip i had on how to export blogger to wordpress and vice versa is limited by the size! If your blog is more than(best guess) 15mb in size you are going to run into some export issues...dont worry folks i will keep digging for a solution.

Harley Davidson Visitor Center
Made a quick stop at the Harley Davidson visitor center located in york. They have factory tours that last about a hour. Unfortunately they don't allow cameras in the actual factory. I would guess they don't want the competition to know their manufacturing process. Next time I'll have to bring the older kids to check out the tour.

Took a little trip to Washington DC this Friday. Dropped Deniz off at The Black Cat and walked all the way down to the National Mall where all the monuments were located and snapped some photos along the way. It was a good day for a walk too,weather was nice the light was also co-operating with me. Not too shabby if I say so myself.

Spots on lens
Well after a few hours of pulling my hair out on trying to find out how to clean the inside mirror of my Dslr and calling people,I finally got it. I kept seeing these spots showing up in the same spot over and over again,No matter how many times I cycled my Sony A200 thru its cleaning cycle and wiping the lenses and everything I could think off was proving to be fruitless. At first I thought about just dealing with it in Lightroom,But It was starting to get annoying. After a bit of goggling and phone dialing I got a few estimates on how much it would cost to clean the innards of my camera.. I almost went ahead and agreed with the camera shop sales guy until he told me that I would have to take the filter and lenses off the camera as well as any other accessories that are on it. That when the light bulb turned on. The filter!...I have a Hoya CPL filter on the lens...After a good cleaning and voila spots are gone! Score one for me....But maybe I should send it in for a good cleaning. Maybe another day.

I figured out how to import Wordpress to Blogger
I figured it out totally by accident...we not really just tinkiring around with converters. If you were looking for a way to move your Wordpress blog to a new Blogger Blog then follow these somewhat easy steps.
1) Export Blog from Wordpress, It creates a XML file named "wordpress.2010-01-26"
2) Go to Wordpress2Blogger site and point it to the XML file
3) That creates a XML file named "blogger-export"
4) Go to the Blogger2Wordpress site and convert the "Blogger-Export" file which creates a "wordpress-wxr" file
5) Go back to the Wordpress2Blogger site and convert the "Wordpress-wxr" file and that results in another "Blogger-export(2)" file which is what you will need to import into Blogger itself.
That should save you hours of pulling your hair out.
Enjoy.
p.s This if you are using the non-self hosted wordpress.
